Storage FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions:

When is your next storage auction?  I don't know.  Hopefully never.  It depends on the amount of people who fail to meet the guidelines of their contract.  I prefer to do one large auction instead of several small ones.  Please check the local paper and this blog for dates, times and requirements of future auctions.

Do you get mice at your facility?  Yes, mice love storage units.  They are row upon row of food supply, and nesting material.  We tell all our occupants not to store food.  However, there are a select few who will do it anyway.  There are ways to prevent mice from inhabiting your belongings.  Click here to see those ways.

Is there a deposit?  Yes, please contact the facility during business hours for rates and availability.

I lost the key to my lock, can you cut it off?  No, I don't have bolt cutters in my office and I am not going to have someone drive to the facility with the bolt cutters to cut your lock off.  You may purchase them yourself and cut your lock off, but I am not going to foot the bill for your negligence.

You're not open on the weekends!  How do I rent a unit if I need one?  You would need to come during business hours to do so.  Contrary to popular belief I am human, and have a family that I like to spend time with so I cannot be here every day all day to suit your schedule.  Occasionally my boss will meet someone up here on the weekends to complete the paperwork process to occupy a unit.  He does charge extra for this, so be prepared for that charge.

Do you have a lot of break in's?  No.  We did have a homeless man living in a unit that was not locked by the occupant.  Whether or not he stole anything from that unit is unknown.  My advice would be to lock your unit and you shouldn't have any issues.  The police in this area patrol this facility often, and may stop and ask you questions if you are on this lot after business hours.  I understand that might be frustrating, but you should appreciate the piece of mind.

I need to rent a storage unit for someone else, can I put their name on the contract?  No, the contract needs to be signed.  I cannot expect the law to uphold something that isn't signed by the person listed on the contract.  The unit will need to go in your name only, and the other individual will need to come back in with you and have your permission to be put on the contract.  You may at that time remove yourself from the contract.  But the deposit amount will have to be settled between the two of you.  We send the deposit back to the first person listed on the contract.

Do you have any discounts?  No, never.  The price is the same everyday of the year for everyone.

Do I get a discount if I rent a U Haul?  No, these units are not owned by U Haul and U Haul isn't owned by us.  Therefore the money taken in for each service goes to different places.

Do you need any notice before I move out?  No, I just need to know that you moved out.  You also need to be out by the 29th day of the month you are vacating.  If not you are responsible for paying for the following month.

Do you have climate controlled units?  No.

What if something happens to my stuff while it's stored there?  Well that's unfortunate, but at the time of signing the contract and even stated in your contract, we aren't responsible for damage, theft, etc.  We recommend you get renters insurance to cover the possibility.

Where can I get renters insurance?  Contact your Insurance Agent.

Do you move my stuff into the unit for me?  No, it's your stuff, you do it.  You can hire a moving company if needed or desired.  Check your local telephone book for moving companies in our area.
